Waves Group is pleased to announce its involvement in the construction of Vattenfall’s Hollandse Kust Zuid 1 – 4 offshore wind farms. We are currently providing Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) services to the project which has already started generating power to the Dutch electricity grid.
As MWS, we are supporting all phases of the project including foundation installation for all locations, installation of wind turbine generators and installation of all array cables within the field. Construction is ongoing at a fast pace with over half of the foundations already installed and 40 of the Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), array cables are also being installed simultaneously. The project consists of four sites with a total generating capacity of 1.5GW made up of 140 WTGs which is being connected to two 700MW offshore substations operated by Dutch TSO Tennet – HKZ Alpha and HKZ Beta.
The 1.5 GW Hollandse Kust Zuid will be the largest offshore wind farm in the Netherlands and in the world once operational in 2023 – accounting for a third of the total installed offshore wind capacity in the Netherlands. It will have a renewable electricity output equivalent to the annual consumption of over two million Dutch households.
Waves Group has over 12 years’ experience working within the renewable energy sector and have supplied MWS services on a number of large-scale offshore wind farm projects across the UK, Europe and Asia. Our team of naval architects, master mariners, marine, civil, and structural engineers have the technical expertise which enables us to offer a one-stop shop service to our clients from early consultation to construction.
