Waves Group Supplying Marine Warranty Services to World’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm – Hornsea Project One

October 4, 2018

Waves Group is proud to announce its involvement in the construction of the world’s largest offshore wind farm Hornsea Project One. We are currently providing Marine Warranty Surveyor services for the installation of the three 140+km subsea cable lengths along with the associated operations including; loadouts, beach landing, pulling in cables to substations, crossing installation, offshore jointing and cable burial. The contract commenced in October 2016 and will be for the duration of the export cable installation phase into 2019.

The Hornsea Project One Wind Farm is wholly owned by Ørsted A/S and is an investment of over £3 billion pounds. Located 120km off the Yorkshire coast, the wind farm covers approximately 407km2 and will have over 174 wind turbines with a total generating capacity of 1.2 GW which will be able to power 1 million homes with green energy. The project is scheduled to be the first to exceed over 1GW in capacity.

We have recently completed the Marine Warranty Surveyor contract for the subsea export and array cables on the Walney Extension (currently the world’s largest wind farm) earlier in 2018 and are proud to be partnering with Ørsted on such a huge development. We believe this contract further strengthens the excellent working relationship between Waves Group and Ørsted and reinforces our position as leaders within the marine and offshore consultancy industry. We have also recently worked on a number of wind farm projects across the UK and Europe such as: Horns Rev 3, Beatrice and Galloper.
