Waves Group Lends a Helping Hand in the Back Up Snowdon Push
September 4, 2018
This summer has been very active for the company. With sweltering temperatures at times hitting over 40 degrees, our director Dennis Kelly and his family (pictured left), were part of the “Becky’s Backers” team that braved the heat and undertook a gruelling challenge for a worthy cause. Becky’s Backers were one of twelve teams that pushed wheelchair users up and back down Snowdon, one of the highest peaks in the British Isles.
The challenge was to support the efforts of the Back Up charity, raising funds to support people with spinal cord injury including the charity’s mentoring programme. Dubbed the “Snowdon Push”, the event took place on 7th July 2018 and raised more than £57,000 with our team completing the challenge in a very credible 6 hours and 25 minutes.
We are thrilled as an organisation to have been given such an opportunity to participate and support such an initiative. The mentoring programme matches people and their families with mentors who have experience in coping with life after injury and offers technical support to adjust to being disabled.
