The Waves group is delighted to welcome Allan Stuart to our team of naval architects.
Allan is a Naval Architect and Chartered Engineer with over 18 years of experience in the marine industry.
He has considerable experience of marine casualties and incidents and is focused on the analysis and investigation of them, providing technical assistance to Vessel Owners, Solicitors, P&I Clubs, Hull & Machinery Insurers, Charterers, Cargo Owners / Insurers and Salvage Contractors on naval architecture matters. Allan has been involved numerous salvage and wreck removal projects, attending on site where necessary, and has carried out surveys of structural damage resulting from collisions, groundings and cargo shift, and surveys of salved vessels, post incident to establish reasons of causation.
He has submitted expert reports for UK court hearings and salvage arbitrations providing opinion on salvage dangers, structural failures, intact and damaged stability, collisions, project cargo and securing analyses.
Allan has considerable experience of using a variety of specialist software for salvage and casualty investigation for a diverse range of vessel types, including: container vessels, vehicle carriers, bulk carriers, tankers, cruise vessels, passenger ro-ro ferries, heavy lift vessels, general cargo, cable layers, dredgers, tugs and barges.
He also has experience of dynamic motion analysis of damaged and flooding vessels and the appraisal of stability documentation submitted for all ship types for approval under the UK flag state, he has performed inclining tests, lightweight surveys, draft surveys, and ship model testing for damage survivability.
