Waves Group Inspections and Survey Expertise Supported the Bahamas Maritime Authority with Paris MOU White List Status
September 7, 2020
Waves Group are pleased to have assisted the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) in securing ongoing Paris MOU White List status (read article here). The BMA is not only on the List, but ranks third globally out of the forty-one Flag States listed. Our team of Master Mariners and Marine Engineers, Naresh Sahajwala, Brian McJury and Nigel James provide Flag State inspection services to the BMA fleet within the London and SE regions of the UK, assisting in maintaining the Authority’s excellent safety, compliance and quality record.
The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) is one of the world’s largest Registers with over 50 million GT flying the Bahamas flag around the globe. All Bahamian registered vessels are expected to enforce ship safety, monitor and improve standards and maintain a commitment to quality, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the international shipping industry. This is the third consecutive year that the BMA has secured White List status, which demonstrates the importance of maintaining vessel safety by conducting regular inspections, surveys, and audits using experienced surveyors.
Waves Group provides flag state inspection services to the BMA, and regularly attends vessels on behalf of various other flag state authorities, ensuring that their vessels are maintained to the high international standards required.
In addition, we conduct casualty investigations on behalf of flag states, providing support to the maritime administrations in meeting their obligations under the UNCLOS and SOLAS regulations, and for the purposes of casualty reporting to IMO.
We also provide numerous types of industry standard inspections including CMID and OVID certification and have a broad range and extensive experience of vessel assessments, audits, and surveys. These include:
- Vessel Suitability Surveys as part of our Marine Warranty Surveys projects
- IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) and eCMID (Common Marine Inspection Document) inspections
- OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) and OVID (Offshore Vessel Inspection Document) inspections
- DP (Dynamic Positioning) trials and FMEA (Failures Mode Effect Analysis)
Our multi-disciplinary team combines design, analytical, and operational experience, which enables us to make practical and realistic recommendations that meet all necessary regulations and good industry practice.
