Waves Group Further Expands Master Mariner Team with the Appointment of William Hargreaves

We are delighted to announce the appointment of William ‘Bill’ Hargreaves as Consultant Master Mariner to the team.
Bill has over 30 years of Pilotage and Ship Handling experience sailing on Oil tankers as Master and with experience on LPG, Product and Chemical tankers. He has also sailed on dry Bulk Carriers with various cargo types including iron ore, coal and grain.
He is a qualified and highly experienced Pilot, Pilot Assessor and Lecturer at Solent University teaching courses on ship handling, ship operations and collision avoidance.
Bill has also worked as a Consultant, Nautical Surveyor and Examiner since coming ashore, and served as a First Class (Unrestricted) Authorised Pilot at the Port of Southampton for over 20 years, during which time he was primarily responsible for the execution of the pilotage for large vessels of various classes, including Tankers, Passenger, Ro-Ro and Container vessels.
He was also responsible, as a senior Pilot, for in-house accident investigations, risk assessments, Pilot and Pilot Exemption assessments, salvage work and has experience in salvage and distress operations, port development projects and Charter Party disputes.
Bill’s experience in port development projects includes feasibility and navigational impact studies, ship handling, tug operations and pilotage studies. In his spare time, he volunteers as an officer onboard square-rigged sailing vessels.
We are pleased to have Bill join our team, further strengthening our casualty response capability. His considerable ship handling experience across all vessel types will also provide additional support to our team of Maritime Civil Engineers, particularly with port infrastructure allision and damage investigations and claims.
