Waves Group Expands Its Casualty Response Services in the Asian and Pacific Region
June 7, 2019
Waves Group welcomes Rajesh Raman to our master mariners team.
We are pleased to welcome Rajesh Raman to our team of Master Mariners. Rajesh joins Brian Armour in our Singapore office to expand our casualty response capabilities in the Asian and Pacific (APAC) region.
Rajesh has more than 37 years industry experience, including command at sea and senior management roles ashore. His seagoing background includes: bulk / timber carriers and tankers, ranging from Type 1 Chemical and Product tankers, to Ultra Large Crude Carriers (ULCC). Working as a Marine Superintendent and Commercial and Operations Manager for a number of years, has afforded Rajesh expertise in all aspects of ship operations and management, including charter party disputes, ship building and ship management contracts.
Having also recently worked as a Correspondent and Claims Executive for a leading International Group P&I Club for over 6 years, Rajesh has extensive experience working on marine casualties throughout the APAC region. He has worked on a wide variety of casualty investigations including collisions, groundings, pollution incidents, fires on board and issues related to the carriage of hazardous cargoes. Shipboard claims include sub-optimum performance of cranes, derricks, windlasses, mooring winches and cargo pumps, STS operations and issues related to cargo quantity and contamination.
He has dealt with the legal aspects of casualties, including the appointment of forensic scientists for investigating the source of fires and lawyers for arrest and release of ships in the region. His background also involves the analysis of incidents to determine liability and the quantum of damage.
Rajesh has experience training senior officers in full-mission Bridge Simulators, Bridge Team and Bridge Resource Management, auditing of onboard procedures to provide insight into potential failures in communications and shortcomings in training which can lead to the loss of situational awareness, a leading cause of maritime casualties.
