Rob is a Chartered Maritime Civil Engineer with over 23 years’ experience specialising in the planning, design, procurement and construction of a wide variety of maritime port infrastructure projects. He is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE CEng) and a member of the Society for the Environment (CENV).
Rob is experienced in the provision of maritime civil engineering consultancy services to the P&I Clubs, insurance companies, lawyers and other members of the maritime engineering community. Principal activities involve the survey of damages to marine structures and mechanical handling equipment on a worldwide basis.
Rob is also a member of PIANC Working Group 211, involved with the preparation of an update on the Guidelines for the Design of Fender Systems (update to WG33). Also involved with the UK support group to WG211.
Rob’s experience covers many aspects of marine project development including, client interaction and relationship development, feasibility studies, port master planning and option identification, budget cost estimates, outline designs, detailed design, contract documentation, project procurement, tender assessment and negotiation, contract management and construction supervision.
He has extensive experience in the design and construction of maritime civil engineering works, which includes dredging, reclamation and ground improvement, breakwaters, a wide range of quay structures, berthing and mooring dolphins, monopiles, fenders and mooring systems. Rob has regularly applied this experience to the planning and development of container terminals, Ro-Ro and bulk handling terminals, marinas and harbour facilities worldwide including UK, Europe, South America and India.
