Mike is an experienced Marine Engineer with 28 years sea going experience sailing in every rank on both steam and motor, oil, and LNG vessels. His practical experience covers a wide range of marine machinery and equipment including cargo containment systems, dual fuel propulsion and all associated auxiliary systems. He also has 8 years of experience sailing as Chief Engineer predominantly on LNG carriers.
Transferring to a career ashore as Technical Superintendent for the first four LNG carriers coming into service, with full reliquefication plants, he was responsible for all aspects of their operation including recruitment and training of staff.
Moving into the management side of the business, he held responsibility for both Aframax and Panamax fleets of vessels before returning to LNG operations as Fleet Manager. During this time, he was responsible for multiple LNG dry dockings and new build deliveries. This included preparing realistic budget and proposals for new business tenders.
Mike has delivered four 25k dwt chemical tankers with dual fuel propulsion and was responsible for producing the required procedures for the LNG bunkering and fuel management on board the vessels. He has trained as an emergency incident commander within the company emergency response teams and been responsible for the investigation and reporting of incidents.
Mike has also been involved in HAZID/HAZOP studies for an LNG import terminal, where he was also responsible for the recruitment and training of staff to operate the terminal. He completed two periods as the Terminal Manager, liaising closely with the local Electric Power Company and the FSRU to arrange the required LNG deliveries and completing compatibility checks for the incoming LNG carriers.
