Julian is a Chartered Maritime Civil Engineer and member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He specialises in port, harbour and coastal civil engineering and holds a MSc in Maritime Civil Engineering.

Julian has worked for large international engineering consultancies, fulfilling a range of roles including, Port Planner, Master Planner, Designer, Resident Engineer, Project Manager, Consultant and Client Representative on the full range of port-related projects.  He has worked on projects in the UK and internationally, including a number of medium-term overseas postings.

Julian focusses on Fixed and Floating Object Damage (FFOD) and unsafe berth cases, providing high-level technical and financial advice to P&I Clubs, lawyers, shipping companies and loss adjusters. He frequently attends overseas incidents, providing support and direction to correspondents and local surveyors, while liaising closely with remote clients. With his wide range of international experience, Julian is able to rapidly develop professional working relationships with all parties, assisting in bringing cases to satisfactory conclusions.

Julian has particular experience in berthing and mooring facilities, quay structures, dolphins and island berths, pontoons, link-spans and link-bridges, Ro-Ro and container terminals, dry bulk facilities, small harbours and offshore support facilities.

Julian is also a qualified Commercial Diver and dives in support of FFOD cases to inspect underwater structures, ascertain damages and monitor works.
