Independent Witness for Experimental Jack-up Operations

Location:

Raz Blanchard, France

Project Description:

Validation of Jack-up use in extreme tidal currents

Our Role:

Independent Witness

Activities:

We were requested to attend and witness the testing of a tubular leg jack-up rig in areas with extreme tidal currents of up to 10 knots.

The purpose of the project was to verify a model to calculate the environmental conditions in which Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) was induced and how this could be predicted for future projects.  This could potentially assist in expanding the operability of jack-up vessels in locations where strong current are problematic.

Mwaves were asked to provide an independent surveyor to witness and observe the monitoring equipment setup, the trials and reviewed the findings of the study to provide verification of the results.
